Hi, it's me!

Well, here goes my very first blog, ever. I have no idea how to write a blog, but I am going to give it my best effort. I figured I would use this platform as a virtual diary to help with adjusting to a new country and the new way of my new life.

So, October of this year I took a job in the Middle East. I seen it as a way to better the lives of my two baby birds and myself. Little did I know it would be this difficult. Not only is it very difficult to be so far from them, but literally everything is different and adjusting is not as easy as I thought it would be. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but this is actually a lot more difficult than I expected.

It does bring me such peace to know that my girls are doing so good, living their lives, and building so many memories. It makes me very proud as a mom to know that I did a good enough job to raise two beautiful intelligent girls with a sound mind and they make great decisions in life, but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel left out. Yes, I know that sounds so childish, but as long as I can remember I have been a mom and we "grew" up together. Now, they are living their lives and I am living mine. It's not exactly how I imagined life, but when does life actually go as you plan?

So, like I said I moved to Abu Dhabi and truly it is beautiful. Big buildings, lots of activities, and the ocean view right out my 9 ft tall windows. But, it is still so lonely. I feel bad for being unhappy, some would say how could you feel bad living in such a great place, but I do. I moved here with 2 suitcases of clothing made for America. So, none of the clothes I have here are acceptable to their customs, too warm for the heat here, or not their "style". I bought my apartment and then it hit me that I didn't have anything as small and simple as a fork. That's when I think the reality of what this adventure I was on truly meant. Starting over in a new country where there is absolutely nothing that I have know my entire life became a challenge all in its own.

So, welcome to my blog and I hope you stick around as I tell all the stories and adventures I embark on throughout my time in the UAE, updates on my beautiful baby birds, and struggles I encounter as an American in a different country.
